Job Description
The Axel Group is seeking a Construction Coordinator to join our client’s team out of Monmouth County, New Jersey. This firm, a reputable builder and developer, specializes in custom residential and commercial projects.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding and hands-on experience with the administrative and documentation aspects of commercial construction projects. Specific responsibilities and qualifications include:
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and navigate comprehensive construction documents and specifications to support project compliance and execution
- Experience in gathering and organizing "front-end" documents required during the bidding and contract award process
- Familiarity with bid forms, instructions to bidders, and other preconstruction materials is essential
- Demonstrated experience with public bid documentation preparation
- Ability to assist project managers and teams throughout all stages of a construction project—submittals, RFIs, and closeout documentation
- Proficient in the use of essential software tools, including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Well-versed in the use of AIA (American Institute of Architects) contract documents, including drafting, editing, and managing AIA owner-contractor and subcontractor agreements
- Preparing and submitting AIA pay applications, including continuation sheets and payment tracking
- Support the project team by developing and updating weekly schedules ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and internal deadlines
- Proactively remind and notify project teams of critical dates such as RFI due dates, pay application deadlines, and bid submission timelines to ensure timely compliance
- Responsible for soliciting subcontractors and vendors for required documentation including certified payrolls, billing paperwork, and other compliance-related submissions
- A current State Notary Commission is preferred
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
- 1-5 + years of experience preparing bid packages within the architecture, engineering, or construction industries
- Experience preparing public work bid packages is highly preferred
