Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The dispatcher plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of GCC projects by efficiently coordinating the movement of equipment, materials, and personnel. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Primary Point of Contact for Field Operations
  • Act as the direct liaison for all company Foremen and Superintendents regarding equipment and trucking needs, ensuring clear and efficient communication.
  • Scheduling Lowbed and Haul Trucks
  • Coordinate and schedule lowbed drivers for equipment mobilization across various job sites. Arrange material trucking logistics with multiple haulers to ensure timely and efficient delivery and removal.
  • Equipment Utilization Oversight
  • Monitor and assess current equipment utilization across all job sites to ensure crews have the right tools for the job. Anticipate needs and adjust deployments to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Daily Dispatch Planning
  • Create and manage daily dispatch schedules for all lowbed and haul truck drivers, balancing project priorities and trucking availability.
  • Rental Equipment Procurement
  • Coordinate directly with external rental companies to source and secure any equipment not currently available in the company fleet. Track rental durations and returns to avoid unnecessary costs.
  • Logistics Problem Solving
  • Respond in real-time to job site needs, equipment breakdowns, or scheduling conflicts. Troubleshoot and implement quick solutions to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Fleet Coordination and Support
  • Work closely with shop and yard personnel to track equipment readiness, maintenance schedules, and mobilization priorities.
  • Documentation and Communication
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment movements, trucking schedules, rental agreements, and field requests. Keep all stakeholders informed of dispatch plans and any changes.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Schedule field/office work to meet the needs of the site progress.
  • Utilize tech skills to optimize dispatching processes and maintain accurate records.
  • Back-up dispatching field workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum 3 years’ experience in fast paced, highly detailed dispatching. Ability to multi task under stress and pressure. Ability to enter data with accuracy and speed is essential. B.A. or B.S. and/or Construction experience is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Prior experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to adapt to new software and tools quickly.
