Job Description

We’re seeking a Director of Operations to oversee the daily operations of an early childhood education program. This role combines team leadership, program excellence, and business management to ensure every child has access to a safe, nurturing, and inspiring place to learn and grow.

The Director will guide staff, strengthen family and community relationships, and ensure compliance with all licensing and regulatory standards. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced childcare leader who wants to make a lasting impact while helping to expand the reach of quality early education.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and Develop Teams

  • Inspire, mentor, and support staff through coaching, training, and clear performance expectations.
  • Build a positive workplace culture that values professionalism, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Partner with internal teams across enrollment, finance, and marketing to align operational goals.

Ensure Program Quality

  • Oversee classrooms to ensure ratios, licensing, and curriculum requirements are consistently met.
  • Conduct regular site reviews, staff evaluations, and program audits to maintain quality standards.
  • Update and implement operational policies to reflect evolving best practices.

Engage Families & the Community

  • Foster strong partnerships with parents through transparent communication and involvement opportunities.
  • Support staff in using family communication tools effectively.
  • Organize parent events and community initiatives that strengthen relationships and increase program visibility.

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Manage center budgets, staffing costs, and enrollment goals to ensure financial health.
  • Evaluate marketing efforts and enrollment strategies, supporting school tours and family outreach.
  • Anticipate challenges, analyze data, and implement solutions that support growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience; varies by state).
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in childcare, school operations, or a similar environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and foster staff development.
  • Strong understanding of licensing regulations and early childhood best practices.
  • Skilled in financial oversight, strategic planning, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with staff and families.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs and meet the physical demands of a childcare environment.
