Job Description

G&E Partners have collaborated with a leading GC in search of an experienced and detail-oriented Estimating Manager to lead the estimating team in developing accurate and competitive bids for civil construction projects. You will be spearheading a national growth phase and competing with the largest GCs in the industry, collaborating directly with the President. The ideal candidate is an ambitious individual who is seeking long-term development and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the estimating team to prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant project data and ensure completeness of the bid.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for completeness, scope, and competitiveness.
  • Prepare bid packages, quantity take-offs, and detailed pricing sheets.
  • Conduct risk assessments and apply contingency strategies to pricing.
  • Lead internal bid reviews with senior management prior to bid submission.
  • Maintain historical cost data to support budgeting and estimating activities.
  • Stay current with market trends, construction methods, and industry standards.
  • Establish estimating processes and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Represent the company at pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid openings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction practices, equipment, materials, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities.
