Director, HR Field Operations

Location: Remote (with up to 60% travel)

Overview

A nationally recognized food manufacturing company is seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of HR Field Operations . This leader will play a critical role in aligning HR strategy with business objectives across multiple U.S. manufacturing facilities. The position is remote, with travel to sites in the West and Midwest.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic partner to operations leadership and plant HR teams
• Lead initiatives in talent management, organizational effectiveness, and workforce planning
• Drive engagement, retention, and leadership development efforts
• Oversee labor relations, including union negotiations and grievance management
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
• Use HR data and analytics to drive strategic decision-making
• Mentor HR managers and support plant leaders in performance and capability development

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Experience with union and non-union environments in manufacturing settings
• Strong knowledge of HRIS systems, compliance, and performance management
• Proven ability to lead change and influence cross-functional leaders
• Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

• Multi-site HR leadership in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Union avoidance strategy and experience managing collective bargaining agreements
• Training program facilitation from frontline through senior leadership
