Position Summary
The position manages and organizes daily activities of the department, ensuring efficient patient care and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Schedules patients according to treatment needs in a timely and effective manner.
- Responds to phone calls, e-mails, and other forms of contacts in a timely manner to provide efficient communications with health care professionals, staff members, and patients.
- Maintains inventory and ordering of medication used within the department based on treatment schedule.
- Administers medications based on the instructions provided in the package inserts and per physician orders to provide safe and effective treatments.
- Manages and orders supplies required to perform patient treatments.
- Understands the changes for patient services and appropriately charges patients for services, supplies, and medications provided within the Ambulatory Infusion Department.
- Consistently demonstrates core nursing processes and skills to organize, prioritize, analyze, document data, assess needs, identify problems, plan, and provide patient care, education, and treatment.
- Available as a resource to nursing staff and other health care professionals on skills and treatments provided within the Ambulatory Infusion Department.
- Develops and maintains updated policies and procedures for services provided within the Ambulatory Infusion Department.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures within Valor Health.
- Develops, adheres to, and maintains the budget within the Ambulatory Infusion Department.
- Participates in all meetings, as patient care allows, required by Administrative Staff at Valor Health.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities to continuously improve patient care, health outcomes, and unit operation.
- Works with Community Relations to coordinate health screening clinics for cancer health awareness.
- Works with physicians and Medical Staff for Oncology Specialty Clinic at Valor Health.
Performs all other related duties assigned.
Financial Stewardship for All Managers and Supervisors
- Set and achieve budgetary targets for revenue generation and operating expense control, including labor costs.
- Analyze monthly operating and financial statements for areas of responsibility to monitor variances in revenue generation and operating expenses.
- Implement actions to resolve variances that are outside of budget tolerance limits.
- Create service line growth in revenue-generating departments, implementing marketing activities through research, strategic planning, and implementation.
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle team to ensure maximum, compliant revenue generation.
- In non-revenue generating departments, assist in growing revenue by teaming with other managers.
- Participate in the selection and initiate purchase process of major and minor equipment.
- Collaborate with appropriate staff when leading the product selection process.
- Optimize consumable supply inventories and utilization for the department.
Approve vendor invoices or oversee staff performing the duty.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
- Preferred Minimum Experience and Skills:
- Two years Oncology experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
- At least one year experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
- Infusion Therapy experience preferred, but not required.
- Certification, Registration or Licensure:
- Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Idaho REQUIRED
- CPR certification.
- ACLS certification required within one (1) year of hire.
- Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course Provider card or scheduled to attend the course within one (1) year.
- Physical Requirement: Able to lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients; able to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods; occasionally subjected to irregular hours; able to do considerable stooping, bending, and kneeling; lift supplies/equipment.
- Working Conditions: Potential exposure to patient elements such as blood or body fluids and/or infectious/contagious diseases. Safe handling of chemotherapy agents and biologics.
