Job Title: Intermodal Dispatcher

Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Intermodal Dispatcher to join our logistics team. This dual-role position is responsible for managing local drayage operations in the NY/NJ area as well as coordinating nationwide shipments through our truck brokerage division. The ideal candidate will be experienced in freight dispatch, knowledgeable in DOT and FMCSA regulations, and proficient in logistics software, particularly Profit Tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Local Drayage Dispatch (NY/NJ):

• Assign and manage company drivers and vehicles (10 tractors and 2 straight trucks) for pick-ups and deliveries
• Dispatch delivery orders to owner-operators and ensure timely pickups and final deliveries
• Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) and ensure DOT and FMCSA compliance
• Maintain real-time oversight of driver schedules and load status using tracking systems
• Upload delivery documentation and maintain accurate system records

Truck Brokerage Operations (Nationwide):

• Coordinate pick-up, transload, and delivery of shipments outside the local authority
• Schedule and dispatch freight using outside carriers while maintaining cost-effectiveness and timeliness
• Manage payments to external carriers and resolve any transportation issues or delays

Administrative & Communication Duties:

• Use Profit Tools to generate driver settlement statements and manage outside carrier payments
• Keep dispatch board updated and log all driver communications and service changes
• Track shipments and notify internal teams and brokers of any delays or service disruptions
• Maintain strong relationships with owner-operators, fleet owners, and vendors
• Verify bills of lading, container numbers, and ensure cargo is available for pick-up at ports or rail yards
• Assist brokers and customer service teams with shipment updates and problem resolution

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in logistics or supply chain a plus
• Minimum 5 years of experience in freight dispatch, preferably in intermodal or drayage operations
• Strong working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and HOS regulations
• Experience with Profit Tools TMS strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general office software
• Excellent multitasking, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
• Flexibility with work hours, as needed, to meet dispatch demands
