SUMMARY OF THE JOB

Build, alignment and testing of Electro-mechanical optical systems and aiding engineers in development of test and alignment fixtures and tools.

On special assignments Assist with research, development and testing of lasers, laser systems, and fiber optic delivery devices for surgical applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assembly, alignment, and testing of electro-mechanical-optical system
  • Support integration and characterization tests associated with lasers, optics, electronics, software, firmware, and sub-assemblies.
  • Assist engineers in tooling development, material flow, and documentation.
  • Support test process and test method development
  • Support troubleshooting of system and subsystem failures to determine root causes of failure.
  • Communicates with engineers, and technical personnel to resolve testing failures, system malfunctions, and data interpretation
  • Support transition of engineering prototypes to production.

Support other projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Area knowledge in Lasers, Laser Systems.
  • Proficiency with industry standard tools and methods for laser, photonic, and electro-optical systems engineering.
  • Broad knowledge of assembly, alignment, driving, and test methodologies and related equipment.
  • Hands-on experience in laboratory technical work in lasers
  • Working knowledge of the equipment needed for the job.
  • Experience in documenting technical work and results

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Biomedical product or medical device development experience.
  • Proactive, organized, self-motivated individual, requiring minimal supervision, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and diagnostic skills
