Medical Biller

Ultimate Staffing Services is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Representative to join a large medical practice in San Diego area. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to ensuring accurate and timely medical billing processes. Ideal candidate should have 2+ years medical billing experience in a larger medical practice, cardiac experience preferred and should know EPIC software and be highly computer proficient.

Temporary to Hire

Monday-Friday -onsite

7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Pay - $22-$24 DOE

Responsibilities

Summary of Position:

The Medical Biller will be responsible for various daily functions in the medical billing office. Reliability, high attention to detail, and organizational skills are essential for this position. The ideal candidate takes pride in their tasks, can function effectively as part of a team, and work independently.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough account reviews on billed claims, and contact third-party payors for status and resolution.
  • Request additional information from physician offices, patients, and others as needed to resolve payor requests.
  • Identify billing or coding issues and request re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected bills as needed.
  • Update patient demographics as needed and correct plan IDs.
  • Post appropriate follow-up notes/status to accounts.
  • Write appeals and corrections to third-party payors as needed.
  • Recognize repetitive errors and delays with payors and escalate payment delays/problems to the manager.
  • Perform collection efforts on delinquent patient accounts.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal Laws Regulations.
  • Maintain the strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

Other Miscellaneous and Related Tasks:

  • Assist Billing Representatives and Management with various daily tasks.
  • Respond to emails and EHR messages/tasks throughout the day.
  • Be a team player and identify ways to assist fellow team members.
  • Always represent the company and its staff in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner on or off the property.

Core Competencies and Expectations

A successful Medical Biller should have the following:

  • Thorough understanding of the revenue cycle process for physician billing.
  • Possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to learn billing systems.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner.
  • Must have good oral and written skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions.
  • Familiarity with terms such as HMO, PPO, IPA, and Capitation.
  • Understanding/ability to read an EOB.
  • Intermediate understanding of HCFA 1500 forms.
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize duties, and follow through completely with assigned tasks.

Position Requirements

  • 2-3 years of medical billing, claims and collections experience
  • Cardiology experience preferred.
  • Should know Epic software and be computer proficient.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation for this position ranges from $22 to $24 per hour, depending on experience.
