About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely billing, claims processing, and account reconciliation. You will support patients and staff while helping maintain compliance with billing standards and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately code and enter invoices, vouchers, and expense reports into the billing system
- Review and process superbills; ensure timely billing within 48 hours of patient visits
- Post payments, reconcile accounts, and prepare month-end reports
- Research and resolve claim denials; resubmit as needed
- Perform weekly claims transmissions and maintain daily error reports
- Support monthly closings, batch reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Respond to patient requests via phone or email professionally
- Look up and verify CPT and ICD-10 codes for accurate coding
- Ensure compliance with billing audits and organizational standards
Qualifications
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- 2–3 years of medical billing experience (commercial and government payors)
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and other software systems
- Strong math, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Schedule
- Core hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (flexible to 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM if needed)
- Onsite in Los Angeles, CA
