A leading, well-established manufacturer of premium tissue products is seeking an experienced Paper Mill Manager to lead mill operations at its modern production facility in Macon, Georgia . The Opportunity
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Paper Mill Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operational functions of the paper mill. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on leader with strong experience in safety, quality, production, and continuous improvement in a high-performance manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for both hourly and salaried staff in the paper manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support day-to-day mill operations, including scheduling, planning, and resource management
- Drive a strong safety culture through proactive engagement, accountability, and hazard mitigation
- Develop and execute long-term strategic plans (3–5 years) for mill performance and efficiency
- Monitor KPIs related to production, cost, quality, safety, and environmental impact
- Oversee boiler and wastewater operations
- Lead and coach both salaried and hourly teams; promote professional development
- Apply lean manufacturing principles and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Pulp & Paper Science
- 5–7 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or mill operations environment
- Solid understanding of centerlining, standard work, and quality systems
- Proven track record in process improvement and Lean Manufacturing
- Experience in tissue or paper machine operations essential. Experience of TAD is preferred.
Preferred:
- Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt)
