Solid Ground Consulting Engineers is a growing geotechnical engineering firm based in Richmond, KY, dedicated to providing innovative and practical solutions for a wide range of infrastructure, commercial, and municipal projects. We are seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead our geotechnical division, mentor our team, and help drive the firm’s growth. This is a leadership position offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of our firm while working on impactful projects across Kentucky and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership on geotechnical engineering projects, including site investigations, foundation design, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, design recommendations, and engineering calculations.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and best practices, integrating innovative solutions into our work.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Experience with Kentucky geology is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with a strong background in analysis, design, and project management.
  • Proven experience in business development, client relations, and team leadership. Experience in the Kentucky market is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex geotechnical challenges.
