Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Leads and participates in a variety of Sports and Cruise Programming activities such as rock climbing, iFly, Flowrider,

basketball, ping-pong and more, by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s The Royal Way, SQM

standards, USPH guidelines, environmental and safety policies.

Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions in various venues throughout the ship.

1. Promote and serve as Master of Ceremonies in Sports Deck activities. Organize and conduct sports tournaments.

Explain and demonstrate principles, techniques, and rules for activity.

2. Issue, explain and demonstrate use of equipment to guests for various sports activities. Regularly track inventory of all

equipment and supplies.

3. Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations. Respond to and report any type of emergency.

4. Post current daily information, hours of operation, activities, etc.

5. Respond to guest complaints in a considerate, professional and positive manner. Take ownership of guest concerns and

ensure complaints are resolved to the guest’s satisfaction.

6. Administrative work: Prepare all required reports, attend meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related

activities as required.

7. Participate in greeting and directing guests on and off the gangways at ports of call. Participate in debarkation

procedures.

8. May participate in a variety of activities associated with Shore Excursions, Cruise Programs and/or production shows, as

well as other related duties. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by

their supervisor or management.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Completion of high school or basic education equivalency required.

· One year of physical fitness and/or recreational sports instruction background with resorts, sports facilities and/or related

recreational facilities required.

· Ability to coordinate and instruct recreational sports and activities for large groups and/or individual sessions. This

includes one-on-one rock-climbing wall instruction. Manual belay certification preferred.

· Experience in the operation and maintenance of the Flowrider or other similar water park equipment, preferred.

· Knowledge of the rules of common sports like basketball, volleyball, golf, pickleball, ping-pong, shuffleboard, etc.

· Proven customer service skills to interact appropriately with guests in a considerate, professional and positive manner.

Ability to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.

· Certification and continuing education currency preferred in one of the following: American Council in Exercise (ACE),

American Aerobic & Fitness Association (AAFA), American College in Sports Medicine (ACSM) or Sports/Fitness/Health

Education degree from a college or university preferred.

· CPR certification and lifesaving certification from the American Red Cross or similar certifying organization preferred.

· Candidate must have a working knowledge of computers and the ability to navigate a variety of programs like Excel,
