Job Description
(Relocation Available) Propel Career Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced Welding Instructor to deliver hands-on training to students preparing for careers in the skilled trades.
The Welding Instructor will lead students through a structured, industry-aligned curriculum that includes safety protocols, welding theory, blueprint reading, and practical applications of SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding processes. The ideal candidate fosters an engaging, supportive learning environment that promotes employability, professionalism, and technical skill development.
Responsibilities
- Teaches Welding courses at a variety of times.
- Submits required reports and forms in a timely manner to Administrative Office.
- Assist in Developing and Utilizing the course syllabus for each course.
- Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
- Maintains professional relationships with students and colleagues.
- Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques and delivery methods.
- Attends meetings, trainings and orientations as required.
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of all aspects of the Welding trade
- Mastery of NCCER Welding course content, AWS-CWI or SCWI Certifications highly preferred
- Mastery of Lincoln Electric course content and Lincoln Electric Labs
- Skills in project leadership; style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation

- Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

- Proficient in designing and delivering comprehensive welding curriculum, ensuring students understand core welding concepts, safety protocols, and industry standards.

- Dedicated to providing clear, engaging, and hands-on welding instruction that caters to diverse skill levels and learning styles.
- Adept at incorporating a variety of teaching methods, including demonstrations, visual aids, and interactive exercises, to enhance student comprehension and retention
Physical Abilities:
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound
- Ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading
- Ability to demonstrate the proper use of power and hand tools related to the specific trade or craft in a safe manner
Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of documented Welding experience at the journeyman level, including at least 1 year in a leadership/supervisory role and verify the various responsibilities undertaken in the discharge of those duties OR
- Minimum 3 years experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance related training program
- Possess a Welding Journeyman credential or equivalent
- Possess an NCCER Instructor certification or be willing to complete NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP), and obtain the appropriate certification from NCCER in the CORE and the Welding Craft area.
- Possess Lincoln Electric instructor certification or be willing to complete Lincoln Electric Instructor Certification Training Program and obtain the appropriate certification from Lincoln Electric.
Work Schedule & Conditions:
- Hours will vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction
- PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a skilled trades laboratory which may include exposure to high noise environments and weather-related working conditions
