Job Description
We are seeking an Automation Mechanic to join one of our clients in Waukesha County. You'll play a vital role in keeping our advanced palletizing, box handling, and robotics extraction systems running smoothly and efficiently. What You'll Do:
As an Automation Engineer Mechanic, you'll be responsible for:
- Performing routine preventive maintenance on automated systems, including robotic arms (EOAT), conveyors, discrete devices, and control systems.
- Conducting daily system checks to ensure all quality controls are functioning correctly.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area and storage spaces.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with palletizing and product handling systems, quickly resolving problems like jams, misalignments, and mechanical failures.
- Dismantling, inspecting, and overhauling equipment as part of our preventive maintenance program and production schedules.
- Responding quickly to equipment breakdowns , implementing effective repairs to restore operations in a timely manner.
- Accurately documenting all maintenance activities, equipment configurations, and troubleshooting procedures in logs and electronic systems.
- Collaborating with automation engineers and production teams to optimize processes, improve system efficiency, and address performance bottlenecks.
- Participating in new equipment design and assisting with the installation, commissioning, and testing of new systems to ensure seamless integration.
- Training personnel on proper equipment operation and maintenance, fostering a culture of safety and reliability.
- Continuously advancing your skills by attending seminars and vendor training to stay current with automation technologies.
- Coordinating with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, parts, and technical support when needed.
- Adhering strictly to safety protocols and regulations , ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback to optimize palletizing processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
What You'll Bring:
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Extensive knowledge of electronics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), pneumatics, and vision systems, ideally gained through technical college courses and supplier seminars.
- Proficiency in machining and fabrication , including MIG and TIG welding, and operating a drill press, lathe, milling machine, and surface grinder.
- Ability to interpret mechanical prints and electrical schematics.
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- An Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Mechatronics, Automation Technology, or a related field (or currently enrolled). A Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Completion of fork truck training and the ability to operate fork trucks safely.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with current software operating systems.
