Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for the overall management of the district’s curriculum and instruction function. Lead the strategic planning and implementation of curriculum and instruction programs. Ensure that the development and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs are effective and efficient, incorporate district goals, and support student achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

· Doctorate Degree in Curriculum and Instruction Preferred

· Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction or related field

· Professional administrator’s certificate (mid-management or principal certification)

· Other qualifications deemed necessary by the Board

· Must have served in a supervisory position

Special Knowledge/Skills:

· Computer literate

· Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

· Working knowledge of special education instruction

· Working knowledge of CTE

· Working knowledge in the area of professional development

· Working knowledge in testing, advanced placement, and DAEP

· Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness

· Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness

· Ability to exercise good judgement in decision making

· Ability to implement policy and procedures

· Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

· Strong leadership abilities

Minimum Experience:

· At least five years of successful experience at a district level instructional leader

· At least three years of experience as a campus principal

· At least three years of experience as a classroom teacher
