Field Engineer | $110,000 – $160,000 | Newark, NJ

(Must be a US citizen + Green card holder)

Play a Key Role in Building the Backbone of NYC’s Infrastructure.

A leading civil contractor working on major horizontal infrastructure projects across the NYC Metro area is looking for a Field Engineer to support critical construction operations on complex, high-value public works. This is a full-time opportunity based in Newark, NJ , with a clear path toward leadership in field and project engineering.

🛠 What You’ll Do:

  • Review project plans and support schedule development aligned with field activities
  • Coordinate with subcontractors on materials, contracts, and pre-construction requirements
  • Prepare construction work plans, lead pre-construction meetings, and track start-up readiness
  • Oversee field activities daily, perform layout checks, and ensure work meets spec
  • Administer subcontracts and materials, maintain RFI logs, and manage payment records
  • Contribute to monthly reports, cost tracking, and issue resolution
  • Identify and resolve site conditions impacting the schedule or execution
  • Support permitting, QA/QC, and project close-out coordination

📌 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 4+ years of civil construction experience on horizontal infrastructure (bridges, highways, tunnels, mass transit, water management)
  • Proven background with a general contractor
  • Familiarity with project controls, estimating, forecasting, and contract administration
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and construction site safety
  • Experience on NYC Metro public projects
  • Must be able to commute to New Rochelle or assigned project sites
