We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to lead our Credit and Collections team and contribute to our financial health and success.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant with strong sense of ownership, organization, and willingness to learn to join our legal team. This role is ideal for a professional with at least three years of experience in consumer lending, regulatory compliance, utilities, or asset-backed securitizations. The successful candidate will work closely with our Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to ensure that Skylight Lending remains compliant with state and federal regulations, supports transactional legal processes, and manages litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Regulatory Compliance & Research:
• Summarize requirements of consumer lending laws , state-specific compliance regulations , and utility regulations .
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations that impact Skylight Lending’s lending products and services.
• Assist in drafting and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations as well as stakeholder requirements.
• Transactional & Corporate Support:
• Support legal documentation for consumer and commercial financial transactions.
• Assist in tracking deadlines and requirements for financial transactions.
• State & Utility-Specific Regulations:
• Stay informed on state-level consumer finance and licensing laws and ensure regulatory filings are up to date.
• Research and track utility regulations related to lending, leasing, energy efficiency and solar projects.
• Assist in regulatory reporting and compliance audits.
• Litigation & Risk Management Support:
• Maintain and organize legal records, correspondence, and case files.
• Support litigation efforts by coordinating with external counsel, managing document requests, and monitoring deadlines.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
• Work closely with compliance, finance, and operations teams to align legal requirements with business initiatives.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal and regulatory matters.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal in consumer finance, utilities, transactions, or a related legal environment.
• Strong knowledge of consumer lending laws, transactional requirements, utility regulations, or similar laws and regulations .
• Experience with state-specific compliance regulations related to utilities, finance, and/or consumer lending.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying issues and requirements in one of the above spaces.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a self-directed environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
