Job Description

The Rhode Island Department of Health is actively searching for a Public Health Nurse to join a dedicated team. This is a dynamic hybrid position, blending in-office work with frequent travel to various community sites throughout Rhode Island.

In this crucial role, you'll be at the forefront of public health, providing essential infection control education to healthcare professionals across various facilities. Beyond education, you'll have the opportunity to expand your expertise through cross-training, assisting with outbreak investigations, conducting facility evaluations, and performing routine surveillance of reportable infectious diseases.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting compelling PowerPoint presentations on diverse infection control topics.
  • Delivering effective infection control content via webinars.
  • Conducting in-person presentations on infection control at healthcare facilities.
  • Potentially participating in vital outbreak investigations and facility evaluations.
  • Carrying out routine surveillance for reportable infectious diseases.
  • Taking on other assigned duties to bolster public health initiatives.

  • Extensive knowledge of infection control and prevention.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • An active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Rhode Island.
  • At least two years of experience in infection control and prevention.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • A valid driver's license (for frequent travel).
  • Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) is preferred.
