Service Desk Technician I (Graveyard Shift)

Location: Polk County, FL (On-site)

Type of Role: ** Contract to Hire (6+ months before conversion to Full Time Employee)**

Conversion Salary: $65,000-$71,500

Schedule:

Monday–Friday | Graveyard Shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM or 12:00 AM–8:00 AM)

Initial 3 months of standard daytime hours for training and onboarding, followed by a 1-month overlap with the current technician before transitioning to the overnight shift.

About the Role

We are seeking an entry-level Service Desk Technician I to join our team in Polk County, FL. This is a Contract-To-Hire , on-site position offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on IT experience in a dynamic support environment. This role is part of the Infrastructure and Service Delivery team.

Technicians in this position play a critical role in providing exceptional customer support to internal users, ensuring consistent and professional troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service with professionalism and patience.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues across various systems.
  • Follow up-to-date processes for documentation and resolution tracking.
  • Escalate complex issues as necessary to meet safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, remaining responsive during designated periods.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
  • Maintain physical readiness to perform job tasks in environments that require use of PPE (e.g., steel toe boots, hard hats, gloves).

Training Path

  • Months 1–3: Standard business hours for comprehensive onboarding and team integration.
  • Month 4: Shift overlap with current technician for hands-on knowledge transfer.
  • Month 5 onward: Transition to permanent graveyard shift.

Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months full-time or 1 year part-time technical troubleshooting experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently after training.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Must be local to Polk County, FL area or within reasonable commute.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, AZ-900, or similar).
  • Experience in fast-paced work environments with shifting priorities.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.
